Banning Books

Some books are being banned for dumb reasons such as, police being classified as pigs. What? You ban a book and a children book at that just because police was classified as pigs what about the rest of the animals in the story people are dogs, cats, zebras, and lion’s yet they only say something about the police, maybe it’s actually the best way to describe police. When it comes to banning books I could agree and disagree at the same time. Sexual content and Violence are two ways to ban a book and maybe if you put an age limit on the book it will give no reason to actually ban it.

To start things off, Sexual content is one of the reasons some books should be banned. You can read a book and sex in about every chapter between the same two people or maybe even two different people. The main point is that some how children under the age of sixteen are being exposed to books like this. Of course we want our children to have the knowledge of sex someday but at the age of 10-14 sex is something that should not be on their mind at this very point in time.

Secondly, A solution to the problem on banning books. I think by putting an age limit on books with sexual content in it would be a solution on banning books. Since most parents don’t want their kid to know of sex until a certain age this would be the best way, but some parents are actually the reason why children understand sex at a very young age. Trust me on this one they are watching even when you think there not. They believe that if you can do it they can and if you are planning on having sex make sure your children are out of the house.

Last but not least, Violence, violence, and violence. Every one should know that violence is one of the leading problems in every city. It’s effecting every living creature on this planet and just by putting one ounce of it in books makes everyone think it’s a good thing, IT’S NOT! To tell you the truth I actually experience someone trying to reenact a violent scene in a book, the violent scene was not the danger of humans but something more delicate, animals. They were capturing stray cats off the streets and literally torturing them. If I wouldn't have said anything they would probably still be doing it.

In conclusion, I do believe in banning books, but not for dumb reason such as humans being classified as animals. Kids ranging from ages 2-9 like excitement maybe by humans being classified as animals what little kid tend to like draws them in to actually reading the book. The only reasons why I would ban a book is if the book contains sexual content and violence in it. Maybe if they put an age limit on some of these books there will be fewer chances of our children learning about these things at a young age.

Beyond the Line (man vs. man)

Compare George and Lennie’s life to your life.

Comparing my life to George and Lennie’s is quite simple. There was me and my best friend we was know as the two musketeers, we were inseparable. Where ever I go she go, who ever I love or hate was the ones she love or hated, and on and on. This brings me to my topic, since we are claimed to be inseparable that means we get in trouble together, we travel from place to place with each other, and take up for each other. Our lives are exactly like George and Lennie’s except we don’t have any disabilities.

First off, trouble, trouble, trouble, that’s what we are best known for, for getting in trouble. Just like George I have to be the one who clean up the mess. I am not saying she doesn’t do the same for me but I am known for picking up the pieces so no angry mob comes running after us. Take for instance, there was a time where me and my friend broke this lady flower pot, she knew she saw someone break it but she didn’t know who, so when she came outside and tried to blame it on us I said “it wasn’t us it was the boys they ran up the street.” Good cover up isn’t it.

Secondly, we traveled from place to place with each other and we always got in so type of trouble while we were their. It wasn’t just by our parents but the people in the town we traveled to. Can you see it yet? Isn’t my life very close to how lennie and George live the only thing that’s wrong is that we don’t have any money that we can blow from town to town but we sure can blow our parents money.

Last but not least, we take up for each other every time we know we did something wrong but are really afraid to admit it. I can remember the time I decided to skip school back in elementary school, I got caught by my aunt and she threatened to tell my mom, but here comes my friend. She made up this big lie and said we got out early and the thing about it is that my aunt actually believed her and said “oh okay never mind I won’t tell but go home you shouldn’t be out here without an adult.” Whoa that was close.

In conclusion, you can obviously see that me and my best friend lives were just like George and Lennie’s but we were normal people being our selves. We were inseparable, we would get in trouble, travel, and just do everything each other and always get in trouble some how. Sadly my best friend moved away and it left an empty space in my heart, she will always be there but I’ve moved on and got more then one best friend and we do the exact same thing.

Between the Line

Of Mice and Men Exam (Between the line)

(Character)
1. What is your opinion on why George shot Lennie instead of Curly?
Personally I think that if anyone would want to kill Lennie it should have been George. He probably thought the same thing; since he is obviously the one who was taking care of Lennie the best way to die was in the hands of George. George considered Lennie as a little brother even though she was much bigger then him, every time Lennie got in trouble George would be the one to pick up the pieces. This time however was something different; Lennie has killed an innocent human being and that’s something George couldn’t fix. The only way as to take his life for the life he has taken.
(Symbols)
2. What did the puppy represent in the book?
The puppy represented new life; it meant new beginning or strength. Although the puppy meant new life the puppy was killed by Lennie just like the mice. Just as new life was brought into this world it was destroyed. Basically it was something that represented something that came and was gone in a matter of seconds.

3. Is George and Lennie’s relationship more symbiotic or parasite?
George and Lennie’s relationship to me is more symbiotic because there are just to inseparble. George is like the brain and Lennie is just the strength. They both need each other, George need Lennie because well of course for his size and strength, he can get stuff done much quicker with quality. Lennie needs George because he is like a guide, he couldn’t do anything without him. Many would probably reject him and then soon he would give up and probably die. George was the person that kept Lennie up and running.
(Setting)
4. Why do George and Lennie keep on traveling from place to place?
George and Lennie are known for getting in trouble in different cities for Lennie’s dumb habits. Every time Lennie does something to get him in trouble they always have to relocate. One time Lennie got in trouble just by looking at a lady. He almost got lynched by a mob coming after him and their goes them traveling again. As stated in the book, “they work up a stake, blow their stake and go to another town to make up some more stakes.”
(Theme)
5. State why the theme of the story is nature on human existence?
About all of the characters, including George, Lennie, Candy, Crooks, and Curley's wife, admit at least one time in the story, to have been lonely and isolated from people. Each wanted comfort from a friend, but will settle for person they have just met. Take for instance, Curley's wife admits to Candy, Crooks, and Lennie that she is unhappily married, and Crooks tells Lennie that life is no good without a companion to turn to in times of confusion and need. The characters are tends to change by their helplessness, and yet even at their weakest moment in time they seek to destroy those who are even weaker than them.

In schooling, should students be grouped homogeneously (same personality, backgrounds, skills) or heterogeneously (different personalities, abilities, cultures)? Why?

From my opinion I think people shouldn't be group by homogeneously because it would be boring. Take for instance I am in a class with all rationals, nothing exciting or creative would happen. By this I mean we would all be just alike and do the same thing and won't have any fun. Also I disagree because some of our closest friends would be in another group and the reason why we like tis is because of there personality.

What did you learn about yourself from this project? What did you learn about others?

We'll I honestly knew some of this stuff even before we did this project. I knew I don't like being told what to do and I like to be the leader of situations. The only thing I can possibly say I found out was my symbol and that was the lion. Also I found out that idealist are attracted to me and I to them.

Positive and Negative Affect on Uniforms

Uniforms are classified as clothing you wear on a daily bases in school or in work. Starting from Monday through Fridays and for some maybe even Saturday and Sundays. Some students are considering uniforms as "whack" as in that the uniforms are weak and uncool or "played out" as out of style. Some students say that uniforms are actually pleasant and everyone should wear it. Constitution High school was known for not wearing uniforms, but as the end of 2008 all students were ordered to wear collared shirts. Not only collared shirts was put into effect, as of getting your education in con high students were also not allowed to wear inadequate clothing such as ripped jeans, clothing that was to big and falls off your waist or clothing that was to tight and couldn't fit on your waist. In Con High some students explain the positive, negative, and the changes that need to be made in order to form a more perfect uniform or no uniform at all. Amber Boddie a 10Th grader and graduate of 2011 gives her opinion on the uniform policy she states," the positive effect on our uniform would be that we will look presentable and will look appropriate for school". Zoey Frakes, another 10Th grader at constitution high school add," I really don't think there is a positive effect on uniforms, students aren't allowed to express themselves and wearing what ever we want is how some of us express ourselves, through our clothing". Malik Cooper on the other hand actually explained the negative side of uniforms. He states," Uniforms in my opinion sucks, I mean people actually get sent home for not wearing a collared shirt, at least their wearing a shirt, and for some people can't afford to buy collared shirts all the time they would just rather slap on a Dollar T-shirt and some jeans ad call it a day". As you can see students have different opinions on uniforms so what would Constitution High School do make more terrible decisions about the uniform or give up and let students wear what ever the please.

Season of my life

Close your eyes and imagine you are the only person in the world. Peaceful, Lazy, carefree, and playful all at the same time. That's how I feel at this very moment, I have finally reach the spring time in my life. Finally doing me, me, me , me , me with no questions asked. Honestly, since I have entered this time in my life it has made me extremely playful, something people get very annoyed of. Energetic, something people love about me. After a long days of all this playfulness, and Energy I have to sit down and just relax.

First off, I confess to be very playful at this very point in my life. Willing to do anything to have fun, like the time I was driving in my brothers car riding down my block with tented windows like it was a drive by or something and out of nowhere we rowed down the windows and start squirting all these people with the water in our water guns, it was so fun but sad at the same time because it was cold. This actually reminds me of a story called marigolds by Eugenia Collier, the girl in the story named Lizabeth love to do bad things to have fun like throwing rocks at Senior citizens LOL.

Secondly, I happen to be the most energetic person one will ever meet. Love to dance constantly, about everyday of the week. Singing is one of my specialties but the most important thing I really love to do going out to parties. Energetic for me is not only by dancing, singing, and going out to parties. I actually enjoy running around the track fields up Cheltenham High school for three hours straight. As long I have a cute boy running right beside me I'm good for those three hours. The bad thing about it is after I'm done watching this cutie run run run while I run run run my body ache with pain from my head to my toe. Cuteness pays off don't it.... well on your body at least. OUCH!

Last but not least, after a longs days of work I would just sit down and Chill. By chill I don't mean relax I mean I become very lazy, I would literally just sit on my black comfy couch for about 4-5 hours doing nothing but watching my favorite tv show. Won't get up for nothing not even to go to the bathroom. Relaxing here and there may be at good thing like taking a little nap in my bed with my furry pink, green, and purple blanket with my furry puffy pillows to match it. Dreaming about Ponies and stuffed animals....Sike.

As you have noticed, I enjoy the spring time in my life. All about me and I'm loving every minute, every hour, day, month, year, just everything about it. The main reasons why I know I'm in the spring time of my life is because I am playful and energetic out of this world, and I am on my chill mode after a long day of work. To leave things off, I'm honestly not ready to go into the summer time of my life. Don't want to be that boring person walking down the street, I don't want to grow up just yet. Having fun while I can is my goal at this point in time, growing up will be SO boorring. Any Who what season are you in? Are you in winter, spring, summer, or fall. Think about it

Beware: Do not read this ESSAY

Recalling the time when I was around the age of 10, was a scary time in my life. All alone in my upstairs bathroom, while suddenly I dropped my make up case I was playing in. After I reorganized everything in the case I looked up into the mirror and there was my dead aunts reflection. This brings me to the poem I read called Beware: do not read this poem by Ishmael Reed. A poem that made me wonder what's really on the other side. I enjoyed this poem because of the title, it really stood out to me, the title is really what made me read it. This poem happened to be very engaging, it seems so realistic. The images this poem puts in your head was kind of nightmarish if one ask me.

First of all, the title really draws the reader in. Saying not to read the poem draws you to the poem even more, it makes you want to read it. It's kind of scary once you think about it. For example, the title states not to read the poem. I myself wasn't really about to read it, with an imagination like mine I thought it was going to put some type of curse on me. as a person who loves thriller it was kind of hard for me to stop myself.

In addition to the title, the poem was engaging. I have to say it is hungering, once I started reading it I couldn't stop. When I decided to stop reading it I thought about it all day, it left me in suspicion. For example the Poem states " In 1968 over 100,000 people disappeared leaving no solid clues", it made me think of what really happened to those people.

Finally, the poem aroused disturbing images that you couldn't imagine. Frightening ones to be exact. For example, the poem says " one day the villagers broke into her house but she disappeared into a mirror". Kind of nightmarish once thought about. Imagine having a dream about a old women in your mirrors every time you look at it.

In the long run I really got a trill of out of this poem. The title mainly i what stood out to me , have it done the same to you? the poem itself was really engaging, the poem leaves you in suspicion it is so degrading. The images, so mysterious, frightening, nightmarish, so much filled with greed. So next time when your looking at yourself in the mirror think of this poem what is really on the other side. Is it a side of where the dead lies or is it just a piece of glass.
